Release: Preview 9.1b (Bug fixes and some balancing)


Gameplay Changes

  • Creatures colliding with each other no longer become hostile to each other.
  • Earth Corruption actually added.
  • Shatter has been removed as a learnable spell (though it can still be found in wands), and affects only stone creatures now rather than all nonliving creatures.
  • The home tower generates with statues/broken statues in its entry chamber again, not suits of armor.
  • Suits of armor no longer have more than one magic item (ones you create yourself still can, of course).
  • Mindless guards actually care if they see you stealing stuff.


Error Fixes

  • Examining an item that granted damage type immunity (such as the unicorn horn ring) caused an error.
  • Certain items would cause an error when hovered over.
  • The "Equip/Unequip" option when right-clicking an item on the Inventory screen wouldn't work and would return an error.


Cosmetic Fixes

  • Prices in faction and store screens were being sorted alphabetically (ie 1, 10 and 100 all came before 2 and 3) instead of numerically.
  • Noble blood is now actually blue like the description claims.
  • Certain time-advancing features (ie bed, meditation cushion) now always show the action select menu even if there's only one action available, as an extra confirmation step.


Other Bug Fixes

  • The wrong number of items was sometimes being deleted if more than a stack's worth of items but less than the total number of items was deleted.
  • Getting multiple stacks of the Drained condition calculates the HP penalty correctly.
  • Rock lobsters are properly type "Stone" instead of type "Earth."
  • Homeostasis properly applies "ice resistance" instead of "cold resistance."
  • The Examine Item screen no longer lets you pick up items in locked display cases.
  • There's no longer a dead spot on the + button on store and faction screens.
  • The list of items available to give when talking to Mutant Scouts now accurately reflects what they'll actually take.
  • Some creature armor would change when viewed in Monsterpedia.
  • If the master bedroom was finished by construction workers while you were on a different floor of the tower, you wouldn't be able to sleep in the bed.
  • The wrong tags were being passed in creature generation code sometimes. The main effect of this I'm aware of was wizards spawning with spellbooks with spells that don't match the arcana of the spellbook.
  • Fixed a hang in map generation that could occur when trying to create an artifact but no available enchantments could be found.


9.1b

Pretty much immediately after uploading 9.1, I discovered another potentially game-breaking bug, and uploaded 9.1b. Only 2 people downloaded 9.1 and it's such a specific issue that hopefully those 2 people aren't going to run into this problem, but the fix is:

  • Studying an item with ice resistance enchantment could create Notes on Magic, with no associated arcana, because it was incorrectly trying to create them for the "ice" arcana, which didn't exist. That could then cause an error when trying to study them. 9.1b fixes both of these issues.
